MARIGOT–St. Maarten-based British author Ed Arre will introduce his latest novel, The Fourth Horseman, at a cocktail reception and book signing in Roland Richardson Gallery on 6 Rue de la Republique, Marigot, on Friday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
As in his previous novels, Arre has woven familiar faces and places into his story line.
“I’ve found that my readers enjoy recognizing locations and people as they move through the action. For the reader, it brings the story alive and for me, it helps to create a greater sense of reality in my writing. Of course, the story is pure fiction. But the real elements add to the tale’s believability,” said the author.
Readers familiar with the island will recognize locations such as Buccaneer’s Beach Bar, Front Street, the passenger terminal at the port, Red Piano at Pelican and other locales around the island.
Local celebrities in the story include a prominent newspaperwoman, a well-known piano entertainer, and a much-loved, and feared bartender, whose skill and no-nonsense attitude is known by all who have ever sat around her circular bar.
The cover design is based on an illustration by well-known artist Roland Richardson from his interpretation of the biblical Book of Revelations, and represents a theme woven into the story.
Several dramatic alternative sketches of the theme by Richardson will be on exhibit at the reception and book launch.
The Fourth Horseman will be available for sale at Roland Richardson Gallery and direct from Amazon.com.
