EOC urges residents to monitor tropical system | THE DAILY HERALD

POND ISLAND–The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) met on Saturday at the request of Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin to review preparation for the hurricane season in general and specifically Tropical Storm Isaac, which was then Tropical Depression Nine.

The EOC requests that residents closely monitor Isaac’s progress, review all hurricane season preparations and re-check disaster supply kits.

Romeo-Marlin received an overview from the Emergency Support Functions (ESFs) about the current state of affairs of hurricane season preparations and an update on the weather system. The Meteorological Department (MDS) along with EOC is closely monitoring this system’s progress and will keep the community informed regularly about its approach to the Lesser Antilles.

National Disaster Coordinator/Fire Chief Clive Richardson reminded the community last week to be prepared and appealed to residents to be ready to take action in the event the country is threatened by a tropical storm/hurricane.
