SIMPSON BAY–A Kayak Scavenger Hunt will be hosted by Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) on Saturday, July 22, from 9:00am to noon. The event will start off at Kimsha Beach in Simpson Bay with breakfast and refreshments.
Participants will be geared up and given a kayaking tutorial at the meeting spot before taking off to Simpson Bay Lagoon. Teams will be provided with a list of plants and animals to locate as they kayak through the lagoon.
When the teams reach the final destination past Simpson Bay Causeway, they along with EPIC representatives, will raft up to discuss findings and enjoy a cold drink before heading back to Kimsha Beach. The team with the most complete list and the best photos will win a prize.
The event registration is US $25 per adult and US $15 for children under 16 years. The fee includes equipment rental, technical support, and refreshments. The funds will help EPIC to continue to provide education and conservation activities related to Simpson Bay Lagoon.
Small children must be accompanied by an adult and must bring their own life jacket.
Kayakers not in the scavenger hunt can also just paddle with the teams for fun.
EPIC encourages kayakers to sign up early for the hunt as space is limited. To sign up, send an e-mail to kippy@epicislands.org or call +1 (721) 524-4420.
