AIRPORT–St. Maarten-based Guyanese wishing to return to Guyana in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria can do so on evacuation flights spearheaded by the Government of Guyana on Wednesday, October 11, and Thursday, October 12.
Guyana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that the flights will leave St. Maarten for Guyana on these dates. All persons who had previously registered with Kim Lucas-Felix (tel. 527-0704) will be given first preference.
The first flight will be by Jags Aviation Sky Truck, which is estimated to depart St. Maarten at 11:00am Wednesday and to arrive in Guyana at 5:00pm the same day. The aircraft can accommodate 14 passengers with 20 pounds of luggage each. Persons who were booked on the flight that originally had been scheduled for Tuesday will be booked on this flight.
Also on Wednesday, Trans Guyana Airways Beechcraft 1900D Flight No: TGY 003, is estimated to arrive in St Maarten at 2:00pm and to depart at 3:00pm, arriving in Guyana at 6:00pm the same day. The aircraft can accommodate 16 passengers with 20 pounds of luggage each.
Jags Aviation Sky Truck is estimated to arrive in St. Maarten at 5:00pm Wednesday, to depart at 11:00am Thursday, October 12, and arrive in Guyana at 5:00pm Thursday. The aircraft can accommodate 14 passengers with 20 pounds of luggage each.
Evacuees are urged to be at Princess Juliana International Airport SXM at least two hours before their flight.
