ANGUILLA–Director of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s (FCO’s) Overseas Territories Directorate, Ben Merrick visited Anguilla last week to get a chance to see first-hand the resilience of the Anguillian people following the recovery from Hurricane Irma.
He met with General Manager of Anguilla Electricity Company ANGLEC David Gumbs and his team and some of the recently arrived Canadian linesmen that were funded by the British Government. He toured and met officials from the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School and was impressed with the dedication of the education workers. He also met with a cross-section of hoteliers and discussed various tourism-related issues.
As reported previously in The Daily Herald he signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Anguilla that outlined the support from the UK for the re-certification of the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport.
