PHILIPSBURG–A “kind and generous” female tourist has donated twenty cardigans to Charlotte Brookson Academy (CBA) of the Performance Arts students who lost theirs during the passing of Hurricane Irma in September last year.
The tourist decided to make the donation after reading an article in The Daily Herald about another donor’s donation of uniforms to students.
The tourist donated the cardigans to complement the uniforms. The tourist, who chose to remain anonymous, was vacationing on the island for the very first time and wanted to assist the youth of the island after the devastation caused by Irma. She said she had a wonderful vacation, loves the island and its people, and wanted to give back.
She expressed surprise that students would be in need of cardigans in the warm temperatures she experienced in St. Maarten. She was told that most of the classrooms at CBA are air-conditioned and some students complain of feeling cold.
The cardigans also come in handy during the cooler temperatures the island has been experiencing lately early in the morning. At that time most students leave home either to catch a bus or walk to school.
CBA management and students thanked the donor and assured her that the cardigans would be put to good use.
