SUCKER GARDEN–Members of the Fire Department sprang into action to put out a blaze of unknown origin in a container in the Sucker Garden area on Saturday, May 9.

Police spokesperson Inspector E. Josepha said in a press release that the police and Fire Department were directed to the Sucker Garden area around 7:50am Saturday, where a container was on fire. On arrival at the location, the police found that a container located behind St. Maarten Building Supplies (SBS) was engulfed in flames. Police questioned onlookers at the scene and they were made aware that no one was in the container at the time.

Fire Department personnel who were already at the location managed to put out the fire “very quickly.” Josepha said the reason for the fire is not yet clear, but noted that Fire Department personnel were busy investigating the incident.
