Fort Louis restoration work requires a five-day closure

MARIGOT–The Collectivité informs the public that due to an urgent and delicate intervention required on a pillar at the entrance of Fort Louis, the site will be closed to the public from Monday, May 14, at 7:00am to Friday, May 18, at 12:00pm.
Emergency and safeguarding work has been under way since March and is continuing at Fort Louis.

For the safety of visitors, these five days of closure are necessary to allow the company TERH-Caraïbes, under the leadership of the chief architect of historic monuments Pierre Bortolussi, to carry out the essential work of consolidation of the entrance pillar and to raise it.
The structure is extremely weak and without rapid intervention, this pillar is currently threatening to collapse
Visitors are asked not to go up to Fort Louis during the duration of this operation and to adhere to the instructions indicated at the site. The conservation and restoration work are being carried out and financed by the Collectivité of St. Martin with the support of the Préfecture of Saint-Barthélemy and St. Martin (Development Contract) and the Direction des Affaires Culturelles de Guadeloupe.
