Four cruise ships in port on Thursday

PORT–On Thursday, January 11, St. Maarten will have her first four-cruise-ship day since Hurricane Irma slammed into the island on September 6, 2017.

The four cruise ships will bring 12,000 passengers and crew to the country.

Scheduled to call on Thursday are Regal Princess (3,500 passengers and 1,300 crew), MS Eurodam (2,100 and 900), Silver Wind (294 and 208) and Anthem of the Seas (4,500 and 1600).

Thursday also marks the return of Princess Cruises since Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017. Princess Cruises returns with one of its newest vessels, Regal Princess.

Port St. Maarten said in a press statement: “With so many cruise lines returning to the destination, it once more demonstrates the commitment of the industry to the island. We also have several more lines scheduled for the coming months.”

Cruise tourism is slowly returning to normal, said the Port. The number of vessels is on the increase each month.

“The first four-ship day is a very positive sign. We can all be thankful for what has been accomplished over the past months to reach where we are at today,” the Port said.
