MARIGOT–Francis Jacob and his ram White Diamond won the Boer category in the seventeenth Ram Beauty Contest held in Colombier on Sunday. Jacob is no stranger to the competition having won it several times in the past.
This year there were only eight contestants in two categories, Boers and Nubians. Second place in the Boer category went to Sadeler owned by Daniel Flanders and third place went to Young Blood owned also by Francis Jacob.
Tom Cocks won the Nubian category with Military, owned by Francis Jacob taking second place.
Despite fewer participants this year, there was a great turnout from the public who enjoyed the ambiance, local food, entertainment, and music by DJ Ruby. One of the judges this year was Carlson Velasquez who was celebrating his 80th birthday.
I Love My Ram Association thanked the Collectivité of St. Martin, Delta Petroleum, Hotel Mercure, NAGICO, Paul Whit Lowtown Supermarket, Richardson family, Heather Greene and Patrick Phipps from St. Kitts, and the volunteers, all of whom contributed to the success of the event.
