PHILIPSBURG--Motorists will have to fork out more at the pumps as of 6:00am today, Wednesday September 30, when the price of gas goes up.
The last price adjustment was on Thursday, August 20, when gas and diesel prices went down.
Today’s increase will take the gas price from 3.076 Caribbean guilders to Cg. 3.102 per litre. The price of diesel will also increase from Cg. 2.905 to Cg.3. 272.
The Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (TEATT) announced the price increases in a public announcement on Monday.
According to the announcement, petroleum and energy provider SOL requires restocking of its fuel, and due to recent international developments the price of fuel on the world market has increased for unleaded gasoline ULG, while the price of diesel has remained unchanged. This has resulted in SOL having to purchase ULG at a higher price, which has been verified by the Department of Economy, Transportation and Telecommunication (ETT), confirming the need to adjust local pump rates.
