2018 Junior Carnival Queen/Little Miss Statia Gercia Brown.
ST. EUSTATIUS–Gercia Brown is the winner of the 2018 Junior Carnival Queen/Little Miss Statia Pageant, which was held Monday night at Carnival City, moderated by Leonico “the Man Private” Lopes and Alida Francis.
In her farewell speech, outgoing 2017 Jr. Carnival Queen Cathryn Sanchez said a few words about her reign and the experiences she had. She mentioned meeting King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and thanked all of those who have made her reign successful.
After judges Anna-lyse Eudovic, Milouschka Euson and Shelia Sortin tallied the votes Brown was declared the winner as she received 397 points. Diagilia Gomez was the first runner-up with 363 points and Tinikia Spanner second runner-up with 279 points.
Brown also won the titles for best creative wear, princess apparel, best speech and best talent; while Gomez won the title of Miss Amity as the friendliest contestant, and best interview. Spanner won the title of Miss Photogenic.
Jr. Carnival Queen Brown received US $1,200 in cash, a bicycle, a tablet and a trophy. Gomez won $800, a trophy, roller skates and an additional gift basket for winning the Miss Amity title. Spanner went home with $500 and a trophy. All contestants also received a gift basket and a giant teddy bear. For each segment an additional trophy was awarded, along with a sash.

All three young ladies were gracious and elegant throughout the night. Even the rain did not dampen the spirits of the contestants as they were all smiles and laughter. Only while accepting their prizes, the young princesses broke out in tears of joy as their title sashes were being attached.
During the show, Youth Night performers Aaron Duncan from Trinidad and Tobago was introduced along with Eliana Richardson from St. Maarten. There were also performances by the Battle of the Future 4 International winner Master Blaster Jr., as well as young Mia Courtar, and the Aloi Dancers.
Statia Carnival continues tonight, Thursday, with the Miss Mature Pageant during which contestants Jineidy Bolan, Janelle Daniel, Rachel Courtar, Sophia de Palm and Maliska Brown will compete to be named Miss Mature 2018.
