CUL DE SAC–Canadian group Global Medic has donated about 550 personal hygiene packages and 175 water filters to persons in the community.
A group of four persons from Global Medic arrived in St. Maarten recently and teamed up with the local chapter of Tzu Chi Foundation to distribute the items to persons in the community. The team were using Tzu Chi Foundation’s old building for their distribution efforts.
The intention of the water filters is to help persons in the community consume safe drinking water in the wake of Hurricane Irma, which affected the country’s water supply. While the personal hygiene packages are expected to help persons in the community maintain their personal hygiene as much as they can. The packages contained items such as toothbrushes, soap and other items. The packages were donated last week Thursday and Friday.
The group from Global Medic is still in the country and they are expected to meet with Minister of Health, Social Development and Labour Emil Lee to see how the group can further assist the country.
