Govt. warns of hazardous road conditions due to heavy rainfall | THE DAILY HERALD

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten-–Motorists are advised to drive with caution due to hazardous road conditions throughout the country caused by persistent rain showers, the Government warned in a press release issued Monday evening.

“Certain areas have localised flooding, and motorists must be observant to avoid these areas until water levels subside,” it was stated in the release.

Motorists are advised to be aware of street flooding during heavy rain showers; those driving along hillsides should drive with caution and beware of rock-falls and possible landslides.

According to the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten in its evening forecast, moisture and instability associated with a tropical wave passing through the region will account for periods of cloudiness and isolated showers.

Some of these showers may be accompanied by thunder, especially during the overnight to early morning hours.
