MARIGOT–Fax Info’s long-running photo contest on the theme “The day after Irma” culminated with the announcement of the overall winner on Saturday evening during a gathering and party at Norma and Corinna Trimborn’s Nocoart Studio in Lowlands.

The jury, under the supervision of Roberta Ceccarelli had the difficult task of selecting the 20 best photos sent in by readers and then choosing the photo that best depicted the catastrophe. Photos were studied for originality and technical merit.

The jury ultimately chose Grégory Rohard’s stunning image of chaos named “Mother Nature” as the contest winner. He received the prize of a high-quality ink jet photo printer donated by Normédia, an authorised Canon dealer in St. Martin.

All photographers who participated in the contest were thanked and congratulated for submitting excellent photos portraying the violence of Irma. Many of the photos were put on display in the studio.

There were honourable mentions for Mathieu Alexandre, Claudio Arnell, Eric Bourdettes, Marie Pierre Crespo, Ice et Nanou Grandin, Pascal Guillaume, Vincent Haegaert, Sandrine Leroux, Mouna Nouda, Thomas Proust, Didier Rouxel and Christenor Sanon.

The Discover Magazine team was commended for its post-Irma photo series. The evening was also an opportunity to admire the art work of the Trimborn sisters. Musical entertainment was provided by the trio of Julien, Serge, and Marco Dondini (former drummer with Gaz Nevada in Italy) and singer Nilce. Another guest musician was Jan Beaujon who played guitar.

Around 120 guests enjoyed the evening.
