MARIGOT–President Aline Hanson issued a statement Friday, condemning yet another terrorist attack on France, this time during the Bastille Day celebrations in Nice, Cote D’Azur.
“Once again, terrorism has struck our nation to its core affecting the lives of scores of innocent families, on July 14, the day that is supposed to be our national day of celebration,” she said. “Our territory, which has been through difficult times, is very troubled by this new terrorist attack on French soil.
“We extend our full support to the city of Nice, and the people who have been innocent victims of this atrocity. They can be assured that here in St. Martin we stand in deep solidarity with them.
“Three days of national mourning has been declared by President of the Republic François Hollande. Now is the time for contemplation and unity of the French people. We must mobilise all our forces against terrorism and hold high our strong values of freedom, equality and fraternity.
“Myself and all members of the Territorial Council of St. Martin are united in addressing our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims in Nice.”
