The Fire Department advises persons living downwind from the landfill fire to close windows and doors, especially persons who suffer from asthma, shortness of breath, or any other respiratory challenges. Philipsburg residents saw clouds of smoke coming from the landfill on Sunday. The Fire Department continues to monitor the situation and said the company responsible for the management of the landfill was working diligently to extinguish the fire.
