PHILIPSBURG–The pro-forma hearing in the “Marmer” and “Red Pepper” murder investigations was postponed until April 10, 2019, the Court of First Instance decided on Wednesday.
In the provisional indictment suspect A.W. (34) is charged with attempted murder of two persons with the use of a firearm. This crime was allegedly committed on April 22.
He was also charged with murder, allegedly committed on August 5. He will also be charged with the possession of illegal firearms.
The Prosecutor said A.W. may also be charged with other crimes in connection with DNA-matches currently still under investigation.
The Marmer investigation involves the killing of Jonathan Williams, who was shot through the head while sitting in his car which was parked in front of RBC Royal Bank in Simpson Bay around 4:00am on August 5.
The Prosecutor said Williams had been “deliberately robbed of his life” in what the Prosecutor’s Office considers a “liquidation.” A.W. was arrested in early September as a suspect in this case.
The Prosecutor said the investigations in the two (attempted) murder cases are in full swing. He said witnesses have been heard and telephones researched. The pro-forma hearing was postponed until April next year because the investigations are still ongoing. Until then, the suspect remains in pre-trial detention.
