CAY BAY–Between 500 and 700 persons attended the Lucky Stables at Seaside Nature Park Family Fun Day on Sunday, March 18, and a total of US $3,000 was raised in the event.

Lucky Stables said the fundraiser had been “a great success and people came out in large numbers.”

Many families with children enjoyed the pony rides, bouncy castles and a cuddle corner, which received much praise, as guests were able to hand-feed and pet little miniature farm animals.

The event also featured a horse-grooming activity, attracting many participants. Lucky Stables La Hacienda Bar was transformed into a Dutch pancake house and was packed with children and adults during the entire day as many guests enjoyed a real Dutch pancake from the visiting Holland House Hotel chef who donated his time and secret batter.

The day was lit up by an acrobatic demonstration by Seaside’s trail-guide team and horseback riding lessons demonstration in the riding ring. It was a day that included something for everyone to see or do.

A raffle was played at the end of the event offering winners prize packages of more than $4,000, donated by different local and international businesses. The top prize was an RCI vacation donated by TradeWinds Cruiseclub. The lucky winners were contacted by phone and some have already collected their prizes.

The $3,000 raised will go towards Seaside’s Discovery Farm project, helping to rebuild Lucky Stables’ care farm and pet farm to start new social and farm-related projects for children and families of St. Maarten.

The team at Seaside Nature Park thanked everyone who went out and supported the fundraiser and the businesses that donated prizes.

“The great turnout and the reported fun by all guests show a positive result after many months of a difficult time after [Hurricane – Ed.] Irma,” Seaside Nature Park said. “Many guests requested a repeat of this event as soon as possible. The Seaside Team will be taking this advice and we are looking forward for the next event to come with Easter Monday with a fantastic egg hunt and other great activities for the whole family.”
