This winter, Groningen was the first region in the Netherlands to see snow. On Tuesday morning, a thin layer of wet snow covered the streets of the northern Dutch province, particularly in the village of Wagenborgen.
According to regional broadcaster RTV Noord, the temperatures remained close to zero degrees Celsius throughout the day. Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for Monday night into Tuesday morning due to icy roads. Gritter trucks were busy distributing salt to prevent any accidents from occurring. More wet snow could fall on New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31, and also on January 3-4, 2021. (Twitter photo)
