Ignacia Florencia William-Bachellor
PHILIPSBURG–St. Maartener Ignacia Florencia William-Bachellor will be leading Republic Bank’s operations in St. Maarten as the Country Manager for banking operations, it was announced on Thursday.
William-Bachellor began her banking career right out of high school as a teller at Scotiabank, St. Maarten. Throughout her 37 years at the bank, she rose through the ranks and served in the capacities of Senior Operations Officer of the Tellers Department, Commercial Services Officer at the Administration and Human Resources Department and Merchant Services Officer, as well as a member of the Special Projects team during conversion exercises for the San Salvador and Costa Rica, and Dominican Republic locations.
William-Bachellor’s last appointment was as Branch Manager of St. Maarten’s Simpson Bay branch.
In addition to her deep interest and extensive training in banking, William-Bachellor harbours interests in computers and technology, sport, culture and languages. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and is an avid softball and volleyball player. She is also a board member of St. Maarten’s National Institute for Advancement, and works with a number of volunteer organisations, including UJIMA Foundation, St. Martin’s Home and DOET Foundation.
William-Bachellor’s appointment follows the acquisition of the operations of the Bank of Nova Scotia by Republic Financial Holdings Ltd. Republic Bank opened its two branches, staffed with more than 50 employees, to the public on Friday, November 1.
With a diverse network of 118 branches in 14 territories, and more than 5,900 employees, Republic Bank has been building relationships with stakeholders and serving customers for 182 years. Socially responsible and deeply committed to building successful societies wherever it operates, the bank will soon introduce its “Power to Make a Difference” corporate social responsibility programme to St. Maarten, the bank said.
