MARIGOT–Gendarmes on the orders of the Public Prosecutor conducted a judicial operation on Monday to control three sites in French Quarter suspected of posing as clandestine garages.
The operation was held in the context of Comité Territorial Anti-Fraude (COTAF) and involved an inspector from Direction de L’Environment de L’Amenagement et du Lodgement (DEAL) from Guadeloupe and two plain clothed offices from Police aux Frontieres (PAF).
In the course of this operation, a number of infractions were noted relative to the labour legislation. In addition, 10 vehicles were seized, the majority of them car wrecks. Different materials and tools were also confiscated.
Further controls will be intensified in other districts, the Gendarmerie noted.
