WILLEMSTAD–The one thing that became clear during Monday’s meeting with InselAir personnel is that they will have to wait until January 15.
On this day the trustee of the embattled Curaçao carrier will have to report to the judge. That’s when it will be known if InterCaribbean, which indicated that it is interested in taking over the Dutch Caribbean airline, has presented the required bank guarantee letter.
UGTK/CADMU union President Wendell Meulens explained that the gathering was important to provide clarity for the workers. Chairman of the negotiation committee Etienne Ys, InselAir’s CEO Lars de Brabander and trustee Rogier van den Heuvel were present to explain the current situation.
Attendees asked several questions on the agreement signed with the prospective buyer from Turks & Caicos, but – as indicated before – most of the answers remain pending the court hearing. It is then that everybody will get more details on the company’s future.
InselAir currently has 130 employees and one plane type Fokker 50 in operation.
