PHILIPSBURG–One of the men convicted of involvement in the armed robbery at Island Water World in Cole Bay on May 16, 2016, was sentenced Friday to sit six more months in connection with another crime.
Alex Louis (21) was found guilty of complicity in the armed robbery and received a 30-month sentence, six months of which were suspended, on March 2, 2017. The Prosecutor had requested two years and six months for the then-20-year-old.
Louis participated in the robbery while he was on probation for a previous crime for which he was sentenced to 12 months, six of which were suspended, on December 2, 2015. During Friday’s procedure the Prosecutor called on the Court for the execution of the suspended six-month sentence.
Louis, who is nearing the end of his jailtime for the Island Water World robbery, pleaded with the Court for mercy. “I’m already sitting for two years for something I have not done,” he told the Court.
The Judge said this was no longer under dispute and informed the defendant that he had blown the second chance he had received by committing another crime while he was on probation.
“If you go wrong you must face the consequences,” the Judge said in ordering the execution of the six-month penalty.
