~ Video captures island’s multicultural essence ~
PHILIPSBURG–St. Maarten Tourism Bureau and Office de Tourisme de Saint-Martin have jointly launched another destination video intended to inspire and welcome visitors.
The short clip captures the beauty and diversity of the island, highlighting local people, activities, places and, most importantly, local culture.
A release from the tourism offices stated it was important to incorporate local elements in the video to showcase local talents and highlight the island’s uniqueness. The video production and editing was done by local videographer Joshua Bowers of Aicon Media and the music is by local artist King James.
Moreover, Clara Reyes of the Culture Department played an instrumental role in the video’s development. Reyes and her dancers can be seen in the video dancing in colourful attire. Reyes also did the narration.
The video has officially been launched locally and internationally, and can be seen on both tourism offices’ official destination Facebook and Instagram pages under the usernames @DiscoverSaintMartin and @VacationStMaarten.
“Keeping visitors inspired and engaged is crucial in keeping the destination on the forefront,” said St. Martin Tourist Office Director Aïda Weinum. “Having captivating video is one way to effectively spread awareness and capture the attention of viewers online. With this video we hope to inspire future travellers to choose the island as their preferred destination to vacation.”
St. Maarten Tourist Bureau Director May-Ling Chun added: “Releasing visually appealing content of the destination is essential, particularly video which has proven to be one of the most effective tools in digital marketing, since videos tend to be shared easily. This initiative is one of many that we plan to roll out to increase our presence in the market. We encourage everyone to view and share the video within your network to collectively increase its reach on social media.”
The travel industry has been heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Most travel plans have been postponed until next year, with tour operators, hotels and airlines offering flexible cancellation options.
The two tourism offices will continue to work jointly to keep travellers inspired and dreaming of the destination, and to attract travellers who are willing to travel in the short term. Keeping visitors inspired and informed will continue to remain a top priority for both tourism offices whilst ensuring that the necessary protocols and guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 are being communicated and adhered to.
