COLE BAY–Christian Fellowship Foundation announced over the weekend that Grammy award-winner Israel Houghton and New Breed will come to the island to perform for concert series Jesus at the Center – Live Encounter! at the Festival Village on Saturday, April 8.

The organisers believe the concert will have some far-reaching and impactful results, and will boost a much-needed gospel tourism. Hosting this gospel event at the Festival Village one week before the traditional island-wide Carnival festivities may seem somewhat revolutionary and may cause some eyes to roll, but the organisers believe the island could do well with this one-of-a-kind contemporary gospel artiste for an extraordinary evening of praise and worship.

One of Houghton’s latest projects, Jesus at the Center was actually recorded live at his home church, the Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, where Joel Osteen is the senior pastor and where Israel himself serves as a Worship Leader.

Houghton said, “I want to give good news to people. I want people to experience hope, and if somebody could lift their hands and say, ‘I am a friend of God,’ whether they felt like they were or not. The Word says, ‘you are,’ so walk in that. The more they sing it, the more they believe it, the more healing that comes to them.”

He looks forward to having a wonderful experience with the people of the island in a live encounter. Several islands including St. Kitts and Curaçao have expressed major interest in attending the event.
