Prime Minister and Minister of General Affairs Silveria Jacobs.

PHILIPSBURG–Prime Minister and Minister of General Affairs Silveria Jacobs congratulated the launch of the training and business support programme SEDP, which is geared towards the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on the island.

Jacobs congratulated recipients, acting Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT) Omar Ottley and A&A Accounting, Business Support and Training Center in a press release on Monday.

“Training for small business owners is another way to ensure their success, which connects to the opportunity to qualify for the [Enterprise Support Project – Ed.] ESP programme under the [St. Maarten Recovery and Resilience] Trust Fund, whereby funding is available to expand your current small business or execute a new venture,” Jacobs said.

She said the government was proud to support these training programmes that not only improve success rates for local entrepreneurs, but also lead to an uptick in the economy and a win-win for all concerned. “Each one grow one!”

“Congratulations to the 51 selected applicants who will be trained via this SEDP. Continue to work diligently and utilise every opportunity to realise your dream for self-reliance. Your dreams are valid,” Jacobs said.
