ST. EUSTATIUS–Jineidy Bolan was crowned 2018 Miss Mature Queen on Thursday evening at Carnival City. There were five contenders for the crown. Besides the winner, these were Janelle Daniel, Rachel Courtar, Sophia de Palm and Maliska Brown.
Bolan won 2018 Miss Mature Queen title with 410 points, Brown came in first runner-up with 394 points, followed by De Palm with 361 and Courtar with 341.
Bolan won the titles of Miss Popularity, Best Speech and Best Interview. Second runner-up Brown won the titles for Best Talent, Best Evening Wear and Best Creative Wear, and De Palm won the Best Swimwear title.
During the interview segment, Queen Bolan stated that being full-figured should not stop anyone from achieving their dreams.
Each contestant expressed their drive to achieve their goals in life, no matter what obstacles may come in their way.
During the evening-wear segment, some of the contestants were brought on stage by their loved ones; First runner-up Brown was accompanied on stage by her two sons, and Queen Bolan was escorted by her father.
Masters of Ceremony for the show were Sjahairah “Lady Shorteh” Fleming and Roberson Hercule. DJ Sense entertained the crowd throughout the night. Gershon Herrera and Elona Richardson from St. Maarten performed.
Queen Bolan received US $2,500 in prize money, a Winair ticket and a gift basket. Brown took home $1,000, a bag set and a gift basket. De Palm came away with $500 and a gift basket and Courtar won $250 and a gift basket.
Carnival continues with a parade weekend. Today, Saturday, the First Day Parade will start at Mansion at 3:00pm. The Second Day Parade will take place on Sunday.
