Joint court agrees with Prosecutor to prosecute MP Richardson

PHILIPSBURG–The Joint Court of Justice issued an order on Thursday for the prosecution of Member of Parliament Frans Richardson. In the ongoing “Emerald” investigation, Richardson is accused of accepting bribes, money laundering and tax evasion.

The objections made by Richardson’s defense against the request to prosecute were denied. The Prosecutor’s Office will present the case against the Leader of the United St. Maarten Party USP on June 11, 2018, in a pro-forma hearing.
