Jump-Up robbers still on the run, police seeking public assistance | THE DAILY HERALD

PHILIPSBURG–Police detectives are seeking more information from the public about the attempted robbery at Jump-Up Casino at 12:15am Wednesday June 6.

Armed bandits stormed the casino during the busy bingo hour and demanded cash from the cashiers, while threatening the people inside. An off-duty police officer in the establishment noticed what was going on and opened fire on one of the robbers, who died subsequently as a result of gunshot wounds. The robber was later identified as Daniel Cherry (20), residing in Sandy Ground, St. Martin.
Two employees of Jump Up Casino were also shot during the crossfire between the robbers and the off-duty officer.
Investigators believe that the two men who were with Cherry are also from the French side and residents are encouraged to call police with any information that may lead to their arrest.
Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said on Friday that anyone who has information that can shed some light on this investigation should get in contact with the Detective Department by calling 542-2222 ext. 213/214, the anonymous police tip line #9300, the Emergency Dispatch 911 or by private message to the police Facebook page.
