K1 DIRECT during disaster management training at Princess Juliana International Airport.
PHILIPSBURG–K1 DIRECT, K1 Britannia Foundation’s official disaster relief and crisis team, is holding a raffle to raise funds for the team’s disaster relief operational budget. The money will be used to cover the cost of medical supplies, fuel, vehicles, materials, and other necessities in the event of a disaster locally or in the region. The raffle has begun and will end on September 30.
Persons will have an opportunity to win prizes such as four round-trip tickets for two to destinations flown by Windward Islands Airways International Winair; a three-night all-inclusive stay for two at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino and Spa; two tickets to “The Big Three” at Rainforest Adventures St. Maarten; artwork by Roland Richardson Gallery Museum; hair-styling vouchers at The 5; items courtesy of Boolchand’s St. Maarten; a gift voucher by Alina restaurant – Sushi and Sake Bar; and a gift voucher for Caribbean Liquors and Tobacco.
Since the passing of Hurricane Irma, K1 has conceptualised and materialised an official disaster relief and crisis team to assist St. Maarten and the wider region in disaster situations. As a result, K1 DIRECT has established two completely voluntary teams, made up of approximately 40 volunteers, in St. Maarten and Curaçao.
K1 DIRECT has also been involved in various trainings to be effectively equipped and prepared to carry out its tasks during a disaster.
These trainings include the completion of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) and emergency medical response (EMR) training; a disaster management training facilitated by United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC); and an end-to-end supply chain management training facilitated by World Food Programme and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
K1 DIRECT is encouraging persons to support the team by purchasing raffle tickets. Companies are also encouraged to purchase raffle tickets for staff, or as items to be sold to their clients.
Each raffle ticket will cost NAf. 20 or US $10.
Tickets will be sold outside Carrefour Market in Cole Bay on August 24, September 7, and September 21, from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
Tickets can also be bought at the K1 Britannia office or from 20 other locations, such as Winair, Adolphus Richardson Building, Arena Base Café, Simpson Bay Pharmacy, Obersi Group, Island Real Estate Team, Bluepoint, Colosseum, Carrefour, Domino’s Pizza, EBS, NAPA Auto Parts, Pete’s Photo, Cay Hill Pharmacy, and Kam’s Food World.
