Kalter new Director Governor’s Cabinet | THE DAILY HERALD

THE HAGUE–Mieke Kalter will become the new Director of the Cabinet of the Governor of St. Maarten per February 1, 2019. She will succeed current Director Reinier van Deele.

  Kalter is currently coordinating policy legal expert at the Kingdom Relations Directorate-General at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations BZK in The Hague, a job she will give up when she moves to St. Maarten to take up the highest position in the cabinet of St. Maarten Governor Eugene Holiday.

  Before the BZK Ministry, Kalter has worked as senior policy advisor at the Ministry of Justice and Security and senior legal expert at the Council of State. She studied International and European Law at Groningen University.

  The Cabinet of the Governor is the secretariat of the Governor, and is tasked with assisting the Governor in the execution of his constitutional responsibilities. The cabinet has many tasks, including consular affairs that do not resort under the responsibility of the Dutch Representative in St. Maarten, communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands, and maintaining contacts with the other departments of government both within and outside the Kingdom.
