Kitchen equipment for Lycée received Tuesday thanks to Michelin-star chefs | THE DAILY HERALD

Rotary Club President Elect 2019-2020 Rigobert Benjamin, President 2018-2019 Jean-Luc de la Haye, and Lycée Principal Janine Hamlet at the Lycée on Tuesday for the installation of the kitchen equipment.

MARIGOT–Kitchen equipment destined for the catering department of the Lycée in Concordia was delivered and installed on Tuesday in the presence of Rotary Club St. Martin Nord representatives, and the equipment supplier and Lycée Principal Janine Hamlet.

Following the gastronomic charity dinner, organised October 15, 2018, at Castellet Restaurant in Var, France, by Michelin three-star Chef Gilles Goujon and three other Michelin three-star chefs, for the benefit of Rotary Club St. Martin Nord, part of the funds collected was intended for the kitchen-restaurant training department of the Lycée to replace defective equipment. The new equipment included a pastry oven, two electric cooking plates and a fridge.

Following the recent fire in Frigodom in the port of Galisbay, this equipment was blocked for a few days but the restaurant equipment supplier FAIC, represented by Mr. Lemnos was able to recover it and install it at the Lycée on Tuesday.

The reception of this material was witnessed by Lycée Principal Janine Hamlet and four members of the Rotary Club; Jean-Luc de La Haye (President 2018-2019) René-Jean Duret (Vice-President 2018-2019), Régine Hée, (Treasurer 2018-2019) and Rigobert Benjamin (President-elect for 2019-2020). The President of the Rotary-Club presented a cheque for 11,500 euros payable to FAIC.

The remainder of the funds raised from the charity dinner is being used to finance two other Rotary Club projects: construction of a mangrove seedling nursery for mangrove regeneration, in partnership with Réserve Naturelle of St. Martin and  the financing of the replacement of doors and external windows on a number of houses to be renovated, where the company Compagnons Bâtisseurs is already working on the frames and roofs with Fondation de France, and have subcontracted the construction of the doors and windows to a local integration company.
