Marchers against domestic abuse heading to Seventh-Day Adventist church.

ST. EUSTATIUS–An “End it Now” march against domestic abuse in all forms was held in St. Eustatius on Saturday afternoon. The march started at F.D. Roosevelt Airport and ended at Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) church.

A large crowd consisting of youth, young adults, senior citizens, members of the Red Cross and Garfield SDA Pathfinders Club participated.

Every marcher carried a balloon or two which had a message written on it to combat abuse. They also chanted various slogans against the abuse of children, women and men.

One man from the Netherlands played his guitar during the march in supporting the good cause. There was also a long line of vehicles driving behind the marchers in support of the march. The police led the march through the streets.

The End It Now programme is organized worldwide by the General Conference of SDA Women Ministries Department. It is held annually on the last Saturday in August. In Statia, the programme is spearheaded by Charline Parris and team.

“As a church, we need to stand against violence and abuse in all its forms. The End It Now programme wants the church and community to know that we can help put an end to the physical, emotional and all forms of abuse against children, women and men,” said Rosabelle Blake, one of the leaders of Garfield SDA Pathfinders Club.
