PHILIPSBURG–Le Grand Marché management said it is in urgent need of its shopping carts and has issued a plea to persons who may have its carts or those who see them around to return them as soon as possible.
Le Grand Marché official Danny Ramchandani said no questions will be asked to persons who return the carts and as an incentive persons who return carts will be given US $5 off on their shopping.
Many of Le Grand Marché’s shopping carts were looted following the passage of Hurricane Irma. Many of the carts were taken by looters carting off the items stolen from the establishment in shopping carts.
“Looters, please bring the shopping carts back to Le Grand Marché, no questions will be asked. We desperately need the carts back,” Ramchandani said.
In the meantime, Le Grand Marché, which has been partially opened temporarily over the past days, plans to reconstruct its damaged building and reopen a state-of-the-art supermarket by Christmas so that customers can shop in their usual comfort as was the case prior to the passing of Hurricane Irma.
“It is open now temporarily, but it will start falling apart soon. We are already ordering new stuff which will be here in October/November and we will have a state-of-the-art supermarket by Christmas,” Ramchandani said.
