PHILIPSBURG–Minister of Public Health Emil Lee urges the public to take note of ongoing free breast screening opportunities this month for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Affairs’ Department of Collective Prevention Services (CPS) is active with prevention and recommends early diagnosis to prevent breast cancer detection at a later stage, Lee said.
He thanked foundations such as Positive Foundation and local partners that promote awareness and education on breast cancer in the community. Upcoming screenings for this week are Friday, October 19, at the Simpson Bay Medical Clinic, and Saturday, October 20, at the Soualiga Medical Practice, Family Medical Practice and United Pentecostal Church.
St. Maarten Medical Center in conjunction with Positive Foundation and Electralyets Foundation will also be offering free clinical breast exams on Saturday, October 27, from 4:00 to 6:00pm.
For more information on the schedule, contact the Positive Foundation and for information on preventive programmes contact CPS.
