MARIGOT–Given the circumstances and financial constraints this year, Les Mardis de Grand Case will be shortened to just four consecutive Tuesdays, starting with the opening edition on Tuesday, February 13, organiser Chantal Vernusse from Calypso Events confirmed at a press conference on Tuesday.
The event, however, retains all the essential ingredients that make it so popular among tourists and residents such as the street vendors, art and craft sellers, street musicians, dancers and live bands, and the always highly anticipated carnival parade along the entire length of the Boulevard.
Already 50 exhibitors have registered to complement the Lolos, fine restaurants and art galleries which stay open late. The Boulevard is turned into a pedestrian thoroughfare for the event.
Vernusse said it was thanks to sponsors, a committed team of volunteers from Calypso Events, and support of the St. Martin Tourism Office that the event was maintained. Tourism Office Director Kate Richardson noted it is important for St. Martin to show that it is resilient and getting back to normal everyday living.
Les Mardis starts at 6:00pm and finishes at 10:00pm each Tuesday. Main sponsors are St. Martin Tourism Office, Delta Petroleum, SACEM, Samarpaint, Immun’Age, Leadermat, Moet et Chandon, Saint T, Ron Marcelo, Hennessy, Steli, HSE and Busco.
