Centenarian Albertha Timber-Maynard, who was the oldest person on St. Eustatius, was laid to rest on Thursday afternoon. Her funeral was held at the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Newton Pasture. Timber-Maynard was [born – Ed.] on the island of Nevis on January 5, 1918.
She leaves to mourn her son Peter Maynard, grandchildren Petra, Bertram and Brenda, her sister Mary Busby (99) and extended family and friends. Timber-Maynard was a SDA church congregant and a long-time choir member. Many persons in the community attended her funeral. Her fellow choir members led by choir director Rita Hassel-Bass, paid tribute to her in song.
