Local exhibition

“Maybe Your Mirror Doesn’t Work” is the title of an exhibition of St. Martin-born artist Charisse Piper set to open on Saturday, June 10, in Axum Art Café starting at 7:00pm. Piper seeks with her body of work to intrigue, investigate and reveal truths in the various manners people encounter in their daily lives. She is also a writer whose work will be accessible via her soon-to-be launched blog “Randomly Seeking Life” and in this year’s edition of the University of St. Martin (USM) online journal “Commentaries.” Charisse is the daughter of Gabriel and Linda Piper.

She attended Milton Peters College VWO and studied fine arts at what was then called Parsons Paris and obtained her Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Parsons School of Design. After returning home in 2009, she worked for Philipsburg Jubilee Library before again furthering her education. She came back home in June 2016 with a Master’s of Science in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium. The exhibition is opened to the public.
