ST. EUSTATIUS–Children at Lynch Plantation/Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) school went to back to school for the new school year this week. Many smiling and excited children were heading back to school, while others lamented the end of summer and the return to early-morning wakeups.
SDA school currently has 99 pupils in attendance with principal LaVerne David-Duggins making sure that day-to-day operations at the school run smoothly.
It was announced that Deborah Hinckson will be the first acting principal and Cheryl Seaton the second acting school principal.
Director of Education of the SDA North-Caribbean Conference Gerene Joseph spoke briefly at the school assembly, during which she presented the pupils with the “ABC of Success.”
The “A,” Joseph said, stands for attitude. She encouraged the students to always have a positive attitude. “B” is for good behaviour, as she implored the pupils to execute good behaviour wherever they may be. Finally, the letter “C” stands for commitment to excellence.
Joseph told the school children not to be satisfied with just passing their subjects. She wants them to strive to get all “As” in their subjects.
“Listen to your teachers, obey your teachers, and do your homework. I pray and ask God to help you, so you can achieve excellence. I’m so happy that I could be with you at the start of the school year and you will see me again throughout the year,” she said in wishing the children a successful school year.
