Man arrested for marijuana

PHILIPSBURG–A man with initials A.M. has learned that illegal drugs do not pay. M. was arrested on Friday after he was found with numerous small plastic bags, each containing marijuana.

Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a police press release issued on Sunday that the discovery and arrest were made during a routine control. During the control of the vehicle in which the suspect was driving, investigating officers realised that the VIN-number on the vehicle had been tampered with, which raised suspicion that the vehicle may have been stolen. The drugs and vehicle were both confiscated for further investigation. The suspect remains in custody, Henson said in the release.

In an unrelated incident, a Guyanese national with initials D.S was also arrested on Friday, after he attempted to run over someone with his vehicle. S. is in police custody for further investigation.

Henson said the Police Department had been very busy over the weekend responding to many calls for police assistance. At least seven of the calls were for fights that had taken place at different locations around the country. The fights, Henson said, do not include other cases that are presently under investigation by the Detective Department.
