Man drowned near Simpson Bay Beach | THE DAILY HERALD

A party at Karakter Beach Bar and Restaurant came to an early end when a man drowned near Simpson Bay Beach on Sunday afternoon. The man was brought to shore by persons nearby and CPR was performed on him, but he did not respond to the resuscitation. Ambulance officials rushed to the scene and took the man to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further treatment. On his arrival, doctors attempted to bring him back from unconsciousness, but could not. The man was pronounced dead in the early evening hours on Sunday and family members were in disbelief at the hospital. Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson confirmed the man’s passing and said further details about the incident will be released at a later date.
