PHILIPSBURG–Recently appointed member of the Supervisory Board of Directors (SBOD) of utilities company GEBE Bienvenido Richardson, is the new chairman of the board.
Richardson was appointed to the board on Tuesday, August 15, following the resignation of Roy Marlin as chairman. Marlin has held the chairmanship post since his appointment on June 1, 2016. He remains on the board as a member.
SBOD said in a press release on Tuesday that during its meeting of August 15, it resolved to appoint Richardson as the new chairman. The board thanked Marlin for his role as chairman and the work provided during his tenure. The SBOD said it looks forward to working with the shareholder, the managing board and the community “in moving the company forward.”
Even as he takes up the position of chairmanship, Richardson, who was appointed a month ago on July 15, is not yet registered in the Commercial Register at the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry (COCI) as a member of the Supervisory Board of GEBE.
An extract from the Chamber on Tuesday also still lists former SBOD member Romeo Pantophlet as the Vice Chairman of the Board, though he resigned and has been functioning as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the National Alliance fraction in Parliament for some time now. Also listed in the extract as members of the SBOD are Marlin, Treasurer Agnes Monte; Secretary Sandy Offringa and members Patrice Gumbs, Oral Gibbes and Tadzio Bervoets. The Daily Herald was unable to reach Richardson on Tuesday.
Richardson is a former teacher of Milton Peters College (MPC), a chemist and laboratory technician. He worked at MPC from 1983 to 2015, and had been Leader of the United People Labour Party.
