POND ISLAND--Serenity Martinus and Doraniya Pascal were crowned the new Senior and Teen Carnival Queens late Tuesday.
Martinus earned the Senior Queen spot with a total of 1,080 points. She also took home the Best Speech, Committee Swimwear, Head Piece and Creative Swimwear, tied with Denecia Williams for the Question and Answer segment, and earned the titles of Miss Photogenic and Miss Amity.
First runner-up was Laetitia Cozier who also won Best Culture, Talent and Evening Wear. She earned the St. Maarten Carnival Foundation community award. Second runner-up was Denecia Williams.
Pascal, the Teen Carnival Queen, earned 709 points and Best: Culture Wear, Speech, Headpiece, Ballroom Wear and Question/Answer segment. She also earned Miss Photogenic and the Community Awareness award. First runner-up was Fara Vilssaint Dracon, who also earned the Best Talent, Miss Amity and the St. Maarten Carnival Foundation community award. Second runner-up was Thamare Milcet.
