ST. EUSTATIUS–More than eighty children have left Lower Town Oranjestad in St. Eustatius for a more open and spacious location at #37 Schrupon Road to seek new adventures, imagination and learning.
Such a speedy departure was necessary, according to Mega D. Youth Foundation (MYF) Director Dion “Mega D” Humphreys. “This opportunity of a more spacious location was a dream. Our former home was limited in space and now we have almost one acre of grounds with more rooms for accommodation, learning and playing.
“Kids like to relate to their own zone and space, and here they will find it. At our old location, known as the MYF Clubhouse, we are really appreciative for the growth we have experienced and the relationship with our former landlords.”
MYF has been coaching and guiding children on weekday afternoons for the past 11 years. Youth ages 6-17 years are usually brought to the programme by their parents or the school bus. MYF also offers a daily bus service to carry children to the scheduled recreational and educational activities and back to their homes.
They are all motivated by an outstanding team of staff members and volunteers to develop their life skills, promote positive values, a healthy lifestyle, learning by play and homework guidance.
“We inspire their minds by exploring talents and skills, but most of all it is about developing confidence, aspirations and a strong academic foundation,” said Humphreys.
MYF is hosting an introduction week for all its registered pupils as of Monday, January 4.
All schoolchildren on the “Historical Gem” are invited to spend one day exploring the new grounds on Monday, January 11. “Our goal is to collaborate and work closely with A+ Academic and Professionals, Daughters of the King (DOTK) Foundation, Buzzy Bees Inn, youth groups, churches and others,” Humphreys stated.
The official opening of the new location will be announced in the coming weeks.
