PORT–Cruise ship Mein Schiff 6 will make its inaugural call to St. Maarten, today, Friday.
The ship has 15 decks and can carry some 2,700 passengers and 1,000 crew. She is the newest member of the fleet of TUI Cruises and is identical to her sister-ship Mein Schiff 5.
The newly-built vessel her maiden voyage, a transatlantic cruise from Europe to the United States, in September 2017.
Port St. Maarten Management will welcome the new vessel to its shores with the traditional plaque exchange and words of welcome.
The cruise line caters to the German market, which has been one of Port St. Maarten’s marketing strategies over the years while attending cruise conferences and meeting with cruise line executives. German travellers are around 80 per cent of passengers on board TUI ships.
