MARIGOT–French-side marines trades association Métimer will draw on the expertise of Calypso Events for organising this year’s eleventh annual Fête de La Mer, President Bülent Gülay disclosed at a recent General Assembly of members at Fort Louis Yacht Club.
Calypso Events organises the very successful Les Mardis de Grand Case. Fête de la Mer is scheduled for the weekend of May 30 and 31 in Grand Case. With regard to Sea Discovery Day which this year will see the 16th edition, Métimer is considering holding two editions, one in June and the other in November due to its popularity with the schools.
Hundreds of students benefit from an organised day out to Tintamarre on a flotilla of vessels to experience the sea and maritime environment while learning about biodiversity, protecting corals and other topics with rangers from Reserve Naturelle.
The Marine Trades Forum will be held March 25 in the Galisbay car park. This event showcases all the marine trade businesses that are encouraged to have a stand. It will be organised in collaboration with Reserve Naturelle, Chamber of Commerce CCISM, Initiative St. Martin Active, the Port Authority, fishermen associations, BPI France and more.
The forum will provide information on the various sectors and trades of the marine industry. The objective is to attract as many students and unemployed persons to the forum as possible to learn about possible careers in the industry. Thanks to the location it will be possible to have water sports available during the day.
Aside from Métimer’s participation in the 2020 St. Maarten Annual Regional Trade Show (SMART) and the Paris Boat Show, Gülay also disclosed Métimer and St. Martin will have a stand at the Martinique Boat Show May 14-20.
Director of Maritime Affairs, Michael Wery and Réserve Naturelle’s Nicolas Maslach informed members of the various respective regulations in force. Earlier, the 2019 accounts of Métimer were presented and approved by members.
