CAY HILL–Mental Health Foundation (MHF) treated clients and their families to a Family Fun Day and Thanksgiving dinner at the Belair Community Centre on Friday, November 22.

Those in attendance enjoyed a delightful Thanksgiving dinner prepared by Yum Yum catering while entertained by steel pan music. During the course of the evening everyone enjoyed a game of bingo, had their picture taken in a photo booth supplied by Picture This Studio, and watched a performance of the traditional St. Maarten Ponum Dance.

MHF said in a press release on Tuesday that it organises the event every year to bring clients and their families together.

“Besides having a beautiful Thanksgiving night full of entertainment, it provides the family with the opportunity to get to know the staff members who work with the clients daily,” MHF said. “The family and social environment is essential in the recovery and treatment of our clients.”

Family members also enjoyed themselves and shared the importance of such events. “It’s just so nice to come together, spend some quality time and get to know the MHF staff, other clients and their families,” a family said.

MHF deemed the evening a success. “Everyone had a great time and shared their hopes to enjoy events like this more often,” MHF said. “We are grateful for the daily efforts of the families and their advocacy against the stigma on mental health.”
