Min. Doran to issue paper on campaign guidelines | THE DAILY HERALD

PHILIPSBURG–Justice Minister Egbert Doran reminded political parties and candidates on Wednesday of the laws regarding public political gatherings and the use of billboards and banners in public space. He is expected to issue a policy paper soon.

As Doran could not attend the Council of Ministers press briefing on Wednesday due to him being in Antigua for the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) plenary sessions, his remarks were given by Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure VROMI Chris Wever.

“Taking into consideration, amongst others, public order and safety, the Minister of Justice is willing to set up certain guidelines for the political parties which are contesting [the upcoming election – Ed.] and how he will make use of his powers and authority pursuant to, inter alia, the General Police Ordinance and the National Ordinance on Public Manifestations. This will be done via a policy paper and will be made public and distributed among the political parties,” said Wever.
