Miss Anguilla, Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers.
ANGUILLA–The reigning Miss Anguilla Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers is to compete for the Miss Universe Great Britain crown in the UK, on July 14. She is the first person from Anguilla to compete in the prestigious event and, if successful, will be the first title holder of Afro-Caribbean descent to represent Great Britain internationally on the Miss Universe stage.
Her mantra “Nothing ventured, nothing gained” is spurring the 25-year-old future attorney on to new heights. Kentish-Rogers lives in Tanglewood and has a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Birmingham. She is currently an intern at Joyce Kentish & Associates. She is a well-known athlete and has gained medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games and has also competed in the Commonwealth Games. She is interested in sports health and nutrition, agriculture, debating and public speaking. She enjoys playing the guitar, learning languages, travelling and reading. She hopes to play a leading role in the development of sports in Anguilla. She hopes that her participation will bring more visibility to, and affirmation of, the diversity of British beauty.
As Kentish-Rogers continues to prepare and train for the competition she is aware that winning would be a great step for Great Britain and for Anguilla. She hopes to be an ambassador for Anguilla and has literally gone from running spikes to high heels and from sports facilities development to tourism and female empowerment.
The finale takes place at the Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre, on July 14. Her participation is being funded by the Anguilla Tourist Board and all of Anguilla will be wishing her the best of luck in this venture.
